USS Langport's House Rules

Created by Captain Rohana O'Touvelli on Wed Nov 28th, 2012 @ 1:17pm

.) ORIGINALITY. All characters must be original and have a full biography created by their players. They must not copy canon (*or reference) existing canon Star Trek characters (Kirk, Spock, Picard etc). It is for the Commanding Officer to determine the final acceptability of any character information. Characters are the property of the players creating them and may not be used without their consent save for moving the plot on in a minor and acceptable manner.

.) POSTING LIMIT. You will normally be required to post once every fourteen days. If you fail do so, you will be given one week's "grace" to post and thereafter you will be removed from the sim. Players are encouraged to post more than that, especially if engaged in a joint post or as a main figure in a plot line. NPCs do not have a required post limit unless they are integral to a plot that you are co-writing.

.) LOA. If you are unable to post for a time, then you may ask for a Leave of Absence (LOA) from your CO, stating when you expect to return. If you are going to be absent for an extended period of time, please allow the CO or another player to play your character.

.) PROMOTIONS/DEMOTIONS. It is for your Commanding Officer to determine promotions/demotions and appointments at their discretion. Promotions are based largely on IC play.

.) MISSION DURATION. It is the CO's sole right to start or end a mission. Please don't end it prematurely.

.) AGE/COURTESY REQUIREMENTS. All players must be of age as posted on the main page in order to play on the sim. Regardless of a sim's age limit, writers must exercise good judgment about what is acceptable and within the realms of good taste. Under no circumstances will pornographic material be allowed. If in doubt, a player should err on the side of caution and consult the XO or CO. Any post with possibly offensive material requires a warning label in the opening lines.

.) REALISM. Please keep your posts realistic in context. If your character is sucked into space and only found hours later amongst nothing but shrapnel in open vacuum, you will need to create a new character. There are no uber-ships or ultra powerful destroy in one shot weapons or anime characters made human. If you post these things, your CO will pull the post and be very upset that you made her eye twitch.

.) THE BOOT. The captain reserves the absolute right to remove any player who is deemed to constitute a risk to the safe gaming environment. Stalking, harassment, threats of violence, lying about your age, et cetera ooc is grounds for immediate removal. You will also be reported to OF and it is up to them as to whether you are allowed to play on another ship in the fleet.

.) POST LENGTH. A post must consist of at least 500 words. If you are unsure of a topic to post about speak with the CO or XO for ideas and prompts.More posting guidelines and ideas can be found at Memory Core>Simm Aides

.) COOPERATION. This is a team effort sim. If you do not interact with others in the sim, you won't get the most out of the role-playing experience. If you won't post with others consistently, you will be asked to leave the sim.

.) PRETENDY FUN TIME. All action has consequence. It does not mean that your character or you as a player are disliked. It simply means that stuff happens. Don't take it personally. If you feel that you have been wronged personally please ask. The CO and XO are always happy to mediate if needed.

.) WRITE YOUR OWN CHARACTERS. You may not write for any character not owned by you without permission from the owner of the other character. For the means of moving forward plot, a CO or XO may forward time, cut short a scene or place your character for the sake of story.

.) CONFLICTS OOC. Any conflicts out of character that cannot be resolved through conversing needs to be brought to the XO and CO for mediation. If you have concerns or questions, reach out to the command team regardless.

.) COMPLETED BIOS. A completed bio is required for all characters prior to their first post. NPCs are the exception to this rule.

Other than that, have fun. Be creative. Be involved. Talk to your command team or department head and we promise that you will have a good time.

.) CHARACTER EXCEPTIONS. No anthropomorphic characters, shape changers, anime characters or races from other genres. ~~Your Command Team on the USS Langport
